Throughout the summer season we will be profiling various vendors at the Musquodoboit Harbour Farmers’ Market. This will give you an opportunity to learn more about the types and origins of products available.
This month we want to introduce you to Jude Major, the owner of Katie’s Farm in Clam Harbour. The namesake and central character of the farm is Katie, a good natured mixed breed dog who has helped to inspire Jude’s work. Jude makes and sells pet treats from food grown organically on her farm– in fact she was the first certified organic pet bakery in Canada! Increasingly, the health and wellness of furry family members is more of a concern, and you can rest assured that these nutritious, all-natural products will contribute to the well-being of your cats and dogs. In addition to healthy snacks for your four legged friends, you will also find eggs and a beautiful assortment of fresh shoots and greens for the human members of your family.
Growing food and working outdoors are Jude’s passion. She farms because she wants to eat and live well and is concerned about the proliferation of pesticides and genetic modification in foods. Jude was a charter member of the Musquodoboit Harbour Farmers’ Market and currently sits on the Board. The sense of community and camaraderie at the Market has contributed to Jude’s dedication to the organization and the quality and uniqueness of products that she produces has contributed to the satisfaction of her customers.
In support of the Market, Jude has generously donated a $100 gift certificate, to be drawn for when the MHFM Facebook page reaches 1000 likes. Everyone who “likes” us on Facebook will be automatically entered to win, so please share with your friends and family.
To learn more about the MHFM, check our website www.mhfarmersmarket.ca to see what’s new. You can also join the conversation on Facebook www.facebook.com/mhfarmersmarket.
